Module 1 Showcase - Part 2!

Continuing with our Module 1 showcase we have more amazing patterns from our students of the e-course to share with you. Aren't they just so talented? We think so!

Delicious 'Secret Garden' by Genine Delahaye

'This print was inspired by using some of the techniques Rachel showed us in week 2 of module one and the loosing up exercise. I found this extremely useful as it allowed me to explore mark making and gave me the freedom I needed to help me relax and have fun with my artwork'.

Scratchy lines in 'Daisy Circles' by Alison Cutforth

This course not only provided the motivation and structure to get back to design but has also opened the door to a new creative and supportive community from across the world.  I've loved taking part and know I won't stop at module 1.

Blue toned 'Rhapsody' by Angela Kilpatrick

So happy that I took the ABSPD class! I hadn’t picked up a pencil to sketch in a long time, even though I was out of my comfort zone I plugged away & now it’s my favorite part of the design process. Thank you so much, it was just the nudge I needed!

Graphic 'Wallflower' by Full name: Becky Hampson

I cannot tell you how enjoyable and eye-opening Module 1 has been for me. I have learnt to sketch like nobody's watching! Previously a task that put the frighteners on me, I now find myself carrying a sketchbook on a daily basis and positively wanting to fill a page or three. Thank you!

Chalky 'Allium' by Cindy J Scribner

Most powerful about the course:  logical progression with a variety of activities that are doable, practical and meaningful.  I could really grasp how I could actually design and submit patterns for consideration. And of course, Rachel is interesting and supportive.

Retro 'Fifties Vases' by Jessica Hayman
The course has improved my technical skills and, perhaps even more importantly, helped me not to get too hung up on the technical details but to relax into really playing around with colour and pattern.

Flaming 'Floral Fireworks' by Kylie Rothero

For me, the best part of the ABSPD Module 1 was the focus on developing my sketching and drawing skills - something that I was always lacking in confidence about. I actually enjoy drawing now (who knew?). I also found the exercises pertaining to finding and developing my style enormously insightful and helpful. I'm still working on that part, but the lessons were invaluable. Thanks so much...I've loved every minute and can't wait for Module 2!

Dreamy 'Midsummer' by Linda Tordoff. Email: linda_tordoff@yahoo.co.uk

The most powerful element of the course for me, has been just getting me inspired to actually design again.  I was having a bit of a creative block before I started this course, but it's really helped me to just rediscover what I love doing, and to feel positive about it.  Lots of technical information as well which was great.

Faded 'Chuck Meets Daisy' by Melony Lawrance

I found the course really well structured. I loved how the design process was broken down into tiny chunks. It made me look at everything twice, so it was easier to notice all the wonderful little details in life/art/design. Noticing these details made it easy to get the inspiration flowing and help push me to try experimenting with different media and styles. Loved every minute!!!

Bold 'Layered Flowers' by PetraHofmann

This course has helped me to see the huge amount of inspiration which is available around me with simple and purposeful exercises. Going back to the basics, picking up brush, pencil, scissors and paper has helped me a lot in finding my style. I do not worry so much with the final product anymore, I've learned to let the process happen naturally. Producing work which seems to be 'me' gives me a really good and easy feeling! And it was also great to have the support and feedback from all the classmates. Thank you!

Textured 'Nutcracker Suite Circles' by Sherry London

I’ve developed  repeat patterns “for fun” for many years but never realised the many possibilities for design of motifs before I took this class (so glued to the computer that I never looked up). I also found the support and help of everyone in the Facebook group to be of equal value to the lessons themselves; it has been a totally amazing experience.

'Mocha Rings' by Terri Stegmiller

I've dreamed about designing fabric and this course has been my first step towards that goal.  I have a better understanding of the design process as a whole and I can now begin moving in the right direction.
