Emily Winfield Martin

Introducing American illustrator Emily Winfield Martin. She makes books, paintings and is the creator of The Black Apple, which sells all kinds of art and interesting bits. Her work is inspired by her childhood spent drawing, reading, dressing rabbits up in fancy clothes and then having unusual daydreams. It is those daydreams that have influenced her beautiful work!
I love the enigmatic look on her characters faces and how they all seem to have a secret and exciting story to tell. Here's a small taste of her work. Visit her website for some more. See you next Thursday, Love Moni!

Heart Gallery

I recently went to Hebden Bridge, a small, lovely and historical town in a valley just under an hour away from Leeds on the train but not far from Halifax. The town is well know for it's creativity and has many unique gift shops. There is also the 'Heart Gallery' which has a range of contemporary crafts and jewelery and all the designers exhibited here live on average within a 5 miles from Hebden. Rachael also has a beautiful, generous and organised display of her textiles products there. Enjoy :) Hannah

Asian food

Happy Monday folks!

Something a bit different for you today in the form of vegetarian Asian food! The colour, textures and of course the taste of Indian food is fantastic, and so culturally inspiring. I had a go at making some classic Gujurati (West Indian) recipes taken from the lovely Hansa Dabhi's cookbook which can be bought on Amazon. There are some stunningly vivid colours that can be taken from the ingredients and the recipes as inpsiration as well as the textures such as the stripes running along the ginger and garlic or the veins of the fresh coriander.
To find out more about Hansa and her restaraunt as well as her charity work and trips to Gujurat, check out the facebook page or the website.

Enjoy cooking! Kelly :)

Bonnie Christine

Happy Friday!

The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design (the e-course) has produced some very talented students, one of which is designer Bonnie Christine. Her work is fun, fresh, stunningly girly, completely unique & personal to her. I spotted a few of Bonnie's tweets showcasing a few snippets of her work so I asked her to send in a selection of her pretty creations.

"I love to weave parts of my life into each pattern, with each one you see you will have seen a little piece of my life and heart. There's something so meaningful in the way we decide to color our worlds."

So inspiring! If you want to see more of her work you can check out her beautifully designed website or her stunning and quirky blog!
