Spring summer continued...

Here is another key theme for spring/summer 2011, the images are taken from the 'Happy Figuratives' section of the Indigo trend book.

OVERVIEW
"A sensitive and spontaneous reading of a charming & re-enchanted day-to-day. Everyday patterns assemble in an eclectic and spontaneous way, with festive figuratives that mix a certain joie de vivre with 1950's accents and an insouciant street art".

(All of the images are scanned from the book, if you click on any you can read all of the info, enjoy!)

Indigo continued...

Here are a few key descriptions taken from the spring/summer 2011 book:

POSITIVE
"The key word of spring summer. It determinedly showcases a lighter spirit a desire to be borne off by fantasy and joie de vivre".

NATURE
"Lying Low for the past few seasons, nature once again becomes a decisive influence. Unexpected interpretations abound, where ultra-realism confronts the fictional and artificial".

COLOUR:
"Colour is essential as key value! A bold use of colour, where brights grow more intense and go back and forth between the natural and the artificial, pastel mix in with acid or overexposed accents, and neutrals play on sensual nuances".

LIGHT
"Diffuses its energy, revealing itself in intense transparencies, and pigmenting darks".

Indigo Trends & Influences

As promised I'm going to share all the great info & inspiration I collected from my Premier Vision/Indigo trip. There is so much for me to go through, so please keep an eye out on the blog posts over the next couple of weeks. I picked up some great trend books whilst I was there put together by www.indigo-salon.com, so here are a few bits from the spring/summer 2011 book.

I'll continue with this book over the next couple of days!

The Independent on Sunday Review

For those of you who haven't seen the Sunday papers, here is a snapshot of the Print & Pattern review. It's a great feature about the fab work of the super talented Marie Perkins (Bowie Style) it talks about the Print & Pattern blog phenomenon & describes how "the blog brings together the best examples of print design across all media and has become a favourite among professional designers and enthusiasts alike, averaging 7,000 hits a day". The review is well deserved & I'm sure the book is going to be a huge success! The review also features images of great design work from the likes of super talented Orla Kiely, Sukie, Carolyn Gavin & Heather Moore. If you don't follow the blog yet, I would definitely check it out here.

Alice in Wonderland Themes!

It seems the Alice in Wonderland film has inspired many designers, trends & even store window displays. There were some stunning displays at Printemps, Paris.  I walked past them for the first time at night & thought they were really striking, slightly eerie yet very beautiful.

Postcards!

I thought I'd share these two lovely postcards I bought recently from paperchase, I have a bit of an addiction & love collecting them. Below I've featured two very contrasting designs the first being a more traditional floral that has been brought up to date with a fresh mustard colour. The second is more my usual choice with bright neon colours & textured typography. Hope you like them!
